What happens when you take a Quella Nero and put it through one of Britain’s famous universities? You end up with a Quella Varsity – the same fun, low maintenance and track-inspired speedster, but one which has graduated with added refinement and sophistication. The new members of the Quella Varsity range feature a number of improvements over our Nero models for those who wish to combine classic single speed riding with first class componentry.

Built around an upgraded 4130 frame and fork, the Varsity models feature sealed headset bearings, an intricate aluminium 44T crank, and a full Quella Premium finishing kit for improved comfort and performance.

Introduced in 2017 is our stunning Varsity Oxford, finished in a classic Oxford Blue coloured frame with complementary Quella premium finish kit.  Like the two great universities, it competes with the Varsity Cambridge for the top spot.

FAQDoes it come setup in fixed-gear or single-speed?All our bikes are sent out as single-speed by default, but if you would like yours to be set up in fixed-gear simply mention this in the comments section of your order. Thanks to the Flip-Flop hub you can easily switch between the two by simply turning the rear wheel around.

What's the difference?In single-speed, the wheels move independently of pedal rotations, allowing you to coast. In fixed gear, if the wheels are moving then so are the pedals – just like a child’s tricycle.

What assembly is required?Your bicycle will arrive 85% assembled. You will need to attach the wheels, pedals, handlebars, adjust the seat post to the correct height and tighten all the bolts. The required tools are sent with the bike and we have created videos to help with assembly, just head to the ‘QUELLA HOW TO’S’ on YouTube. We recommend getting the bike build checked over by a mechanic to ensure your bicycle is ready to ride. Shipping direct to your local bike store for assembly is possible.

P.S. the easiest mistake to make is putting the pedal in the wrong side which can cause threading. There are letters on the end of the pedals with R or L to let you know which side of the bicycle to insert. It should require little to no pressure to turn in.
