Christmas gift ideas for young cyclists
Next on our countdown to the big day is cycling related Christmas gifts for the younger cyclist in your life. Let’s be honest, Christmas is complicated, especially with kids when trends are changing every week. One trend that will never die, and we actively encourage, is kids riding bikes. From small gifts to whole bikes, we’ve compiled a list of present ideas to set the wheels in motion.
We have a whole load of children’s cycling clothing on our site including some fantastic shirts from Specialized. The designs on their kids’ jerseys are something else and make us a little jealous to be handing them over. There’s plenty of growing room too so as well as being the coolest kid on a bike, they’ll also be comfortable. Don’t forget to wrap them up warm in the wet and windy weather. The Altura Airstream jacket will keep them from soaking the landing and, more importantly, make them stand out from the crowd.
It’s important to protect young hands from the elements and our kids’ specific gloves do exactly that. The lightweight and comfortable models from Altura and Specialized reduce the chance of blisters and protect against numbness. Plus, they look cool – from now on just expect this on the end of every paragraph because kids’ cycling gear is low key cooler than what we get…
Protect the little’un’s noggin
We all know the importance of wearing a helmet when we’re out on our bikes and it’s a lesson that should be learnt at an early age. At the Bike Factory we have a huge range of kids’ helmet styles and designs. For example, Raleigh helmets have a cool shell design that combines safety and value for money.
We also stock Specialized helmets which give off a bit more of a racing vibe – let your kid channel their favourite pro cyclists.
Bontrager kids’ helmets are also popular and find that perfect balance of style, comfort and safety. Whichever helmet you choose, we’re sure your kid will look great rocking up at the school gate.
When it comes to kids’ bikes, we pretty much have anything and everything you need. Our catalogue of bikes is extensive and we always make sure our smallest customers ride away on the correct bike for them. As there are so many to choose from, we’re going to focus on a few of our favourites.
Frog Bikes make some fantastic machines and their clean design is second to none. They make bikes for children aged from one to fifteen, so can potentially form a huge part of a child’s life. Pre-school, their first day, the nativity, exams, big school, Frog Bikes can guide them through all of them.
Fun to ride and pretty much bomb proof, they are the perfect way to learn. Included on our site are the Tadpole balance bike for infants learning to ride, then there are the 14- and 15-inch wheel stabiliser-ready models to guide them through the early stages of pedalling. Next are the 20-inch models for when they really get going, all the way up to road bikes and suspension mountain bikes with a 26-inch wheel suited to teenagers. There’s pretty much a Frog Bike for everyone and we secretly wish they’d venture into bikes for big kids like ourselves!
Similarly, our Specialized range guides a kid through their childhood. The range includes the Hotrock and Riprock models, two great bikes that are made for kids but with Specialized’s creative juices and performance heads behind them. Great fun and capable of going on long rides with the family, Specialized bikes are fun to ride and very reliable.
No doubt evoking memories of your own childhood, Raleigh kids’ bikes have always been the gold standard. Their 2019/20 models are no different and offer the kid who wants a BMX style ride exactly what they have dreamed of. Lastly, the Raleigh Super Tuff Burner Gold BMX really is something else and takes you back to the good old days of the Raleigh Chopper.
Our range doesn’t stop there either! When it comes to kids’ bikes it’s always a good idea to swing a leg over the bike before purchasing. Head to our site or pop in store to check out our extensive range.
That feeling you got at Christmas when you went downstairs and found a crudely wrapped bike beside the tree is indescribable. Gift that extraordinary joy to the little cyclist in your life this Christmas.
