BANK HOLIDAY BIKES FOR KIDS

With the bank holiday weekend fast approaching and good weather expected, now is as good a time as any to plan some family bike rides. With that in mind, we've got a great sale on our range of kid's bikes that you're not going to want to miss. We've got everything from beginner balance bikes, to miniature race bikes that'll inspire your ambitious WorldTour wannabe. Here are a few to get you started:

Early Rider Trail Runner 14" Balance Bike

The aluminium Trail Runner balance bike is one of the lightest on the market thanks to the frame construction. The knobbly tyres are ideal for tarmac and gentle off-roading, and there's a comfortably long wheelbase for optimised control. Though there are no pedals or gears, balance bikes are a brilliant starting point for the small and enthusiastic athletes in your life.

Early Rider Belter Kids Belt Drive 16"

Once your child is ready to graduate to a 'big kid' pedal-driven bicycle, the Early Rider Belter is a great option. Early Rider do a great job of trying to make their kids' bikes as light as possible, ensuring that the child's experience is positive and the handling of their bike is without difficulty. Everything on this bike is designed with low rolling resistance from the tyres and hubs to the belt-drive. The belt replaces the more conventional bike chain and the result is a component which does not stretch or get as filthy as a chain. With any luck, this is a bike which will not require any maintenance from the day of purchase to the last ride before moving up. And maybe their younger sibling can use it too.

Dawes Paris MTB Pow Blue

There comes a time when a child wants to specialise a little, choosing either to focus on the road or off-road riding. For the latter, a robust mountain bike with some degree of suspension will set them up well as they take on the trails. The hardtail Dawes Paris has a Suntour M2025 Suspension fork at the front and Shimano 18-speed shifting to help youngsters get the most out of themselves and the bike.

Trek Neko Kids White 2016

The Trek Neko is a very similar product to the Dawes Paris, though without any suspension. This bike is equally suited to the streets and the trail with knobbly tyres, a good range of gears and ever-reliable disc brakes. It is a great last stop for a young rider before moving up to adult bikes.

Dawes Academy CX 26"

The Dawes Academy CX is listed as a perfect foundation for any future elite cyclo-cross racers, but it would also be an enviable option for the road. The Shimano Sora 9-speed drivetrain is complemented by Alex Rims, Kenda tyres and size-specific cranks so your child can get the most out of the bike. The bright paintjob is designed as a precursor to the limelight that is to be expected from any ambitious rider who picks up the Dawes Academy.

Specialized Shuffle Helmet (Chlidren's)

Don't forget the all-important helmet to protect your little one's brainbox!

We have barely even brushed the surface with this little list, so be sure to have a look at the full range of kid's bikes on offer. There's nothing better than a good ride with the family when the sun's shining, so get your kids on two wheels, and get riding!
